About

Song in a different way is a project of discovering and understanding the real Philippines. During 2010, the year of the presidential elections, we are planning to travel across the country with the camera and tell the story of the Filipinos, from the aristocracy to poorest of the poor, from “mail order” brides to tribal villagers, from government officials to rebel groups.
This documentary will show the Philippines from every angle, with both its beauty and its struggles. We want to supply the tools, the camera lens and piano keys, but the stories will be told by the people of the Philippines, their lives, dreams and daily struggles will speak for themselves.
We are planning to produce a series about the discovery of the Philippines and stream it weekly across the world. During the journey we will be updating blogs and podcast with the latest news, adventures and discoveries. We want to create a network of people, hear what stories people would like to see, and hear from the Filipinos themselves, about the stories that should be told.
With all the information and material collected during those six months, we are planning to compile in a full feature length documentary and screen it around the Philippines and other countries.
As we travel through the country we are going to organise free concerts for all Filipinos, for the rich ones, as well as the ones that never left their villages before. We believe that music is beyond politics, religion and social barriers. We want to get to know the Philippines and tell its story; with the camera lens and the piano, write music and lyrics inspired by the people, culture and diverse nature. By writing a song in a different way we want to create a cinematic experience of life of the Philippines. We want to present the real Philippines and to encourage people to discover this country for themselves, as we believe that it’s one of the most fascinating countries in Asia.
