“a place to call home”

29/07/2010

To be honest I’m a little sick of traveling… Constantly packing and unpacking, only having one suitcase’s worth of belongings, being confronted with new cultures, languages, building relationships and then leaving. I would like to find a place to call home and unpack our things and buy furniture and collect all our belongings from the various places we have them stored around the world. But permanent is not the world we live in right now, we are not called to be in one place yet…

After saying our goodbyes on the Philippines, we landed in Hong Kong for a week to relax, catch up with friends, debrief and reflect a little on all that had happened in the six months. Within that week, we had unexpectedly been asked to return to the Philippines for two months in October to carry on working with the ICM Children’s Choir and prepare them to travel to Hong Kong for the annual fundraising banquet. It was a little bit of a shock to us that we would be returning so soon, but being asked back really showed us that our work there was highly valued and needed.

On the 22nd June, we were back in England with my family and friends after a year and a half of being away – a tear or two was shed! And then three weeks later we arrived in Poland, where we’re currently working on a documentary about Michał’s dad – a former triple jump world record holder and politician. We’ve also been asked to put on a few evenings of music and film around the city; doors are really opening for us wherever we go it seems!
